Sustainability and practicality in Label production.
At Label Craft we are aware that the printing & packaging industry has an environmental impact. But we can’t forget that packaging fulfils two very important practical and positive roles in our daily lives:
- Protection of the product (for example, to prevent the waste of food and other products, which would have an even much larger impact on the environment)
- An informing role, to make sure each product is consumed in the way it is intended including safety information and patient advisories.
An honest approach to this matter can actively contribute to the solution. By addressing these points of attention, businesses can contribute to a more sustainable future:
- Material selection: Using recyclable, biodegradable, bio-based or made from post-consumer or post-industrial recycled content.
- Reduce and minimise: Simplified packaging designs with optimised sizes and shapes minimise empty space, reducing waste, transportation costs, and decreasing the carbon footprint. This is what we call design for recycling.
- Recyclability: Prioritising materials that are easy to recycle, with the easy separation of the label from the packaging as the main goal. This way we can optimise the recycling of the main product.
- Local sourcing: Source materials and manufacturing locally reduce transportation emissions and support local economies.
- Waste reduction: Asteria is a thorough lean manufacturing group. Implementation of waste reduction strategies such as raw material waste, water management, and promoting reusing packaging materials are high on the agenda.
- Transparency: We are transparent about our sustainability efforts, goals, and progress.
Supply chain sustainability:
Sustainability is a very important pillar within Asteria Group. For example, we make the necessary efforts and have the appropriate certificates to meet all legal requirements in terms of food safety and environmental protection. We also always produce in a cost-efficient and sustainable manner with a focus on waste reduction and energy savings. We ensure that our suppliers and partners uphold sustainable practices, from raw material sourcing to manufacturing and distribution.
