Irish businesses adopting greener practices as part of long term commitments to a cleaner greener economy.

As part of The Asteria Group, Label Craft remains committed to sustainability practices in production and operations. With our 65 manned factory in Dublin, we’re very proud to be aligned with Ireland’s outlook and pledges towards a cleaner greener economy and environment.  Below are some of Ireland’s key drives for businesses in achieving these goals.

Renewable Energy:

 Ireland has been working to increase its use of renewable energy sources. The country has significant wind and wave energy potential, and there has been a push to harness these resources for electricity generation. Initiatives like the Renewable Energy Support Scheme (RESS) aim to promote the development of renewable energy projects. In 2023 Label Craft completed their solar power project with a PV Solar Panel roof installation cutting emissions and energy costs we were then able to pass on to our customers.

Climate Action:

Ireland has been taking steps to combat climate change and meet its emissions reduction targets. The Climate Action Plan outlines measures to reduce emissions across various sectors, including transport, agriculture, and energy. The goal is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

Waste Management:

Ireland has made progress in waste management and recycling. The introduction of the Waste Action Plan for a Circular Economy and the expansion of recycling infrastructure have contributed to reducing waste sent to landfills. The Asteria Group have been involved in recycling for some time, offering raw materials consisting of recycled material and fully biodegradable or compostable products.

Biodiversity:

 The Irish government has recognized the importance of biodiversity conservation. Initiatives include the National Biodiversity Action Plan and efforts to protect natural habitats and endangered species.

Positively, sustainability is a moving target and proactive companies such as ourselves aim to move with each challenge as they arise. Challenges that Ireland faces in improving its sustainability record include meeting emissions reduction targets, transitioning to a low-carbon economy, managing water resources, and addressing issues related to urbanization and land use.
